In Santiago, there is
one building wich is my favorite, I think is beautiful, The
National
Library, I have gone
sometimes in 2007, in particular because of PSU, that was a perfect place to
study. This beatiful and big building was founded in 1813 under government of politician and
soldier José Miguel
Carrera , the architect was Gustavo
García Postigo, and together ¨Archivo Nacional¨, these buildings were
inspirited in École nationale
supérieure des beaux-arts or ENSBA from Paris.
I have walked a
lot of times close by this building, however, I have gone in a few times, the
principal place is big, the desks and desk lamps are antiques of course, but
very good maintained, it is beautiful. I see many people walking every day by
there, and I am sure not much people go in, obviously we are very busy.
Surrounding the building
there are some referents too as ¨Cerro Santa Lucia¨, ¨Universidad Católica¨,,
and a modern building wich I like too ¨Centro Gabriela Mistral ¨ or ¨GAM¨ (ex
Diego Portales) wich offers ballet or contemporary dance, music concerts,
stage play and art exhibitions. Definitely The National Library gives a
distinct touch in the Santiago´s modern center.
Bye bye
